"Opt-in" - Family Privacy Protection Act

Please contact your representative in the U.S. House and either ask them to sign on as a co-sponsor of H.R. 551 or thank them for doing so if they already have.

H.R. 551 was introduced by Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA) and would amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 and would basically reverse the current "opt-out" status quo.  This bill, known as the Family Privacy Protection Act, would require that parents consent in writing BEFORE their child's name, address, and phone number are released to military recruiters.

This bill would be a major boon to counter-recruiting efforts!  No Wisconsin Representatives have signed on as co-sponsors. Please take action ASAP!

Counter Recruitment

Counter Recruitment is a grassroots movement that has grown out of public concern about military expansion in this time of war.   Central to the counter recruitment effort is the action to protect high school students from the high pressure salesmanship and deceptive tactics used by military recruiters faced with enlistment quotas.
